hi out there and i thank you all in advance of any replies and help....

i kepp on getting an intermittent noise or groan from the steering it usually happens when i turn the steering at slow speeds or standstill and then it goes away..is it possible to check the fluid level and if so where is it...or is it something more sinister,or maybe this is normal...

i cant believe something else has gone wrong already spent £2500 on it in last 6 months...new turbo.alternator clutch etc ,etc and of course a service...all sympathy welcome...wish i had never bought the car....

cheers again in advance

I used to get something similar on mine, sometimes like a whirring noise, not necessarily at full lock. Reported it to Merc at service but they said they couldnt find anything wrong, so keep an eye on it . What? I said, if you cant tell me what it is how can I keep an eye on it?

Couple of days later I looked at reservoir and it needed top up, which solved problem. Thing is, at the time the car (01 C180) had only done about 30,000 miles, no leaks anywhere, so I guess it must have evaporated, or something like that:confused::confused:.
