Hello there. I have a question about the different battery modes that there are for my mercedes C350e. Primarily Charge.

since i have a pretty quick work routine i dont have much time to charge the car with the 3-Pin Charger the car came with only using it in some times e.g washing the car.
ever since this i pretty much rely on the car engine charging the battery.

However i come to theorise that the charge mode in the car uses more petrol than normal hybrid.

Is this true?

I couldn't say 100%, but the same principles of using a std vehicle with many high power consumers (heated seats, headlights etc) switched on would likely apply. The more drain on your engine, then the more fuel you will use. So charging of your hybrid battery via the engine is *likely* to use marginally more fuel, but I wouldn't think it would be a huge amount.

You have the car, the charging system and know what fuel you put in so should not be difficult to work out for yourself what the real world situation is in each mode to confirm or deny your theory.
