I’m new to Mercedes cars, but have ordered a C43. What i’m wondering is why the C43 is not included in the offer of s complimentary driving AMG experience. Does anyone else share this frustration?

Hi Kieran, welcome to the forum. Be prepared for some controversial opinions on why the C43 doesn't qualify. :)

Thanks. Can see that argument from both sides. The perspective i’m looking for is the official reason from Mercedes- which they don’t seem to be able to or willing to provide...

I'd have thought it was pretty obvious, the C43 is a pussy compared to the 63 or 65. But the real reason is cost. And the fact that 63 and 65 owners don't want to share the track with the slow 43.

I think its mainly a re badge of the v6 turbo engine (400) and as such doesn't have the "one man, one engine" of other amg cars.

It's a shame they are diluting the brand as such. They are still lovely cars but 2 digit AMG models are now a much more common sight around here with the Introduction of the 43 model.

You can't help but feel it's something to do with economics . I think the C43 is a great car.

My partner's colleague has just got one,it does look nice. Especially when she parks her original one next to it!

Lovely cars and a great sensible choice as a compromise.
Am I right in saying the 43s don’t have the engine builders plaques on?

Totally agree and it would have been my choice as a 212, at least there is something in the present range that would suit me re petrol, I would have preferred a small bore V8 but you can’t have everything and of course it would undermine the true AMG offerings

Can you drive an A45? I guess if they offer one, they should offer the other but I suppose they are using the 43 models to take the fight to Audi’s S models but unlike Audi they haven’t used a different sub brand. They will now be open to criticism for diluting the brand but I see them as a great compromise, more accessible and useable every day than the 63 models and still with enough of the AMG flair that the general car buying public will want.

I agree that the C43 is a good compromise between the full blown AMG's and the lower spec cars, it's a shame it took MB so long to realise they needed an Audi S model competitor otherwise a 3 year old C43 for under £25k would be on my short list

Yes its the same engine as the 400 engined cars.

It's more like RS and S models.

MB had the AMG sport models and the AMG models. Same as Audi.

Now they have the AMG, but have turned the old 400 AMG sport models into the c43 after adding the 9 speed box.

I thought the "63 AMG"s competed with the Audi RS"s and the "43 AMG's competed with Audi S models.

What i find interesting is that a 3.0l V6 Audi S with a stage 1 ecu remap can compete with a comparable range RS!

I think my next chose will be (depending where I am working) will be C43 Coupé they these models don't have full leather seats and not Command. Which is very annoying!

Love to go for a C63 but at present I am doing 50 miles per day from home to workski. Live in W.London and work in Marlow!
