Well, the renewal quote turned up in my Inbox overnight - £717, up from £575 last year, so roughly a 25% increase. (9+ years NCD and £650 excess). After all the hype, I was expecting worse but I will do some research in a week or so which is supposed to be the optimum time to do it.

Go compare is decent as some insurers will try and match a cheaper quote for like for like cover. I’ve just provided screen shots in the past.

Our CLS via Chris Knotts came in at about £60 more than what it was last year, which reminds me to renew it today as I just don’t have time I’ll leave it as is.

Shockingly few months ago my w221 with Chris Knotts went up by 100% and they couldn’t do anything to get it down so I move that to Norton Insurance brokers who charged what I paid last year. Certainly don’t see why the w221 would be like that as it’s not exactly the sort of car that is targeted or largely driven by imbeciles.

Good morning: i got the same cover as currently for a new policy with a different supplier - for 2024/25 it is £399 for a 2016 E220 cabriolet - £55 more than this years premium. Yet the actual policy is with the same insurance company in both years!

Got me renewal today, for my 2011 C207 E class coupe 350 cdi 265bhp. Last year was £610 which was already up from £450 the year before. This year it's £805.
Insurance companies are now basically charging what the hell they like, the robbing bastards. And there's naff all we can do about it. Obviously I will shop around, but I'm not holding my breath.

I don’t see how insurances companies are regulated, with all these silly hikes, as mentioned above charge what they like and tell the customer it’s due to gibber jabber bull crap.

I’m sure all the back hander dirty money is regulated nicely though.

They are regulated but it's now a free market so Insurers can charge what they want. We have changed the policies on all our handful of cars this year because of ludicrous quotes of up to 80% increases but still we had to pay a lot more than last year.

Hi @fabes, should you wish to get a comparison quote from your renewal with Admiral, we'd be more than happy to look into it for you.

We've been protecting our clients' assets since 1965 and we specialise in vehicle & home insurance...I'm sure we could help in some way :)

Got my insurance quote in yesterday, £209 last year and now wanting £375.
After 10 minutes on the comparison sites, renewed it for £230.
Leaves a bitter taste from the companies that try it on though.

My neighbours renewal was more than double, though he had no choice but to pay this amount. Then he went to purchase another vehicle, he went on a comparison site. Lowest was £1100. He decided to scroll down the results and was obviously shocked at some of the quotes, especially the last one of over £22,000!!!! I'm sure these comparison sites are just a con, as all the insurance companies who pay to be members of these sites, must type in a stupid amount because, just 1 dummy will pay this colossal amount and they would have covered the joining fee's forever......but I might be wrong.
My neighbour was a bit upset with these stupid figures, 1100£, 1500£, 2900£ and so on.
Maybe Norton Insurance Brokers can shed a light on it??

It’s getting beyond stupid now to the point where I’m moving insurers on principle.

However it’s wholly corrupt and seriously damaging, especially for those with low incomes/tight budgets who basically work to live. The rises are simply unjustified and not inline with inflation etc. It’s simply another act of tyranny and extortion in this modern age.

The only reason people are paying it is that insurance is a legal requirement!

And that's exactly why they are doing it.
They know they've got you by the knackers and are squeezing them till your eyes water. As I I've said before Legalised Robbing Bastards.

I'm betting a lot of people will be going into financial burden or huge debt just to insurer their vehicle.........Maybe the government are in cahoots with the insurance to get people out onto public transport, that's non existent in many places.
Maybe the next step for us consumers would be to cancel our insurances in one big sweep. Reverse the tables......but, that won't happen. So Rip off Britain wins again :(

I can’t wait until Amazon start doing insurance, whilst Amazon is not always cheap, I bet they will be in a position to take a massive chunk of the market in a flash. That should then have insurers begging for customers.
