I am the owner of the plate attached the 129 converstion nice to see what sort of calibre the owner's club attract!!!!

Also the for your information the plate was purchased for £300! the owner of a 2004 SL 500 offered me £3,000 for so who's the BERK!!!!!

then it is what it looks like and looks like what it is an interesting cross breed - i am sure it would nice but just not for a MB aficionado - i bet it would fool most of us if it was sitting in Tesco's car park - except we know you dont take your nice MB in there - what i wonder is what was the motivation for doing this - i wonder what the insurance man would say as this is a serious modification - shame they did not mod a SL500.

Would just like to say thank you for having the conviction to actually contact me and find out why I had my 129 converted, the car is as good as it looks and to all the other members my original purchase from MB was a 2003 500 AMG but due to the fact I have two small children I needed rear seats and a boot this I had achieved with the converstion! I have now replaced my wifes Puma with a new Range Rover so have plenty of space. The converted 129 is immaculate in everyway and no money was spared the converstion was documented on Video.

Once again thank you for having the balls to contact me by phone find out a bit more, before posting your comments!!

he he Richard dont take everything you read here too seriously there ARE a lot of good people here some clowns too but hey this is just a slice of life and the people who drive own or like Mercs. I for one like your conversion BUT then i do understand what it is and your reasoning for doing it - cant see why you did it though on a £'s basis - but then that was your choice. What i would LOVE to see is this VID can you convert it to a MPEG and maybe post on UTUBE and provide a link here IF you cant do the conversion i am sure i know a man who can MAAAAAAALLLCOLM and who i am sure would do that for you :grin: This is a nice group on the whole but it does have some PC TIGERS i can live with that and i would ask - since i am the person that suggested you join this group - that you do too - even if you just lurk here you will get lots of good info re Merc's and that is really what it is all about. WE do also meet up ocasionally just think of the fun you can have meeting these people who thought that your car was ******!!!!! he he. You can of course do the Groucho Marx thing "I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members" BUT even better think on "He may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot but don't let that fool you. He really is an idiot."

Thanks Dave!! will try to convert Video, as I said in my e-mail to you! the reason for the expense was to achieve a new SL look with the added advantage of taking my children out, I think Mercedes should have thought about this when producing the new SL. Anyway more money than sense apparently!! especially the number plate!!! With regard to the so called Tigers some valid coments, would like to piont out though I am 39 years old and not a boy racer.

In deed I think you mentioned your age as being a bit older than myself, what ever you do and I know you liked the conversion think carefully about the condemnation of the MBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Number plates only increase in value, then again I don't need to tell someone with experience! Like I said more money than sense I suppose! thanks for pointing it out though, saves me a fortune in theropy!! perhaps you can help other's????????? I am divorced now and awaiting the new face lift SL500AMG
unfortunatley I only have my children on the weekend so will look to purchase a new SL now, will send you some pic's to see if you approve! might even keep the plate!

I think it's telling you rebadged a 6 cylinder car as a V12 .

I do believe though that you thought a bit more about your comments once Mr Flying Scot left his thread following him calling me to find out if I really was an "Idiot" and why I sacrificed a 129, I does concern me and and I can take the critic's, but the condemnation and the child like comments show what memebers should not be on this site!!

Anyway you will see my reasons for the conversion, family first I am afraid is that so bad??????????????????????????????????????????????

I am not saying it does but the car was supplied with these and they were fitted by the bodyshop! Have you reveiwed the Cherished number pages! even the DVLA have now cashed in! I think the Gov know where the money is!

Its getting quite anal now and sorry SL55 AMG, will send you a pic just so that you can check the car and badges!! wonder why you of all people were checking the M** ERK plates I must have swayed you! suggest you buy you could make a few quid!

There is a difference bewteen anal and accurate. An SL55 for example is somewhat different to a SL500.

Forums are used as sources of information - statements as written are quoted on other forums or on web pages so it's a good idea to be as accurate as possible when discussing technical aspects.

To be honest if you were buying a new SL55 you'd know everything about that model from the exact colour to the size tyres it has - and probably be proud that it has a supercharger and 500bhp!

If i had a cheap 129 I could even think of doing what you did,good luck to you.
