I have a 48K mileage CL and have noticed a rattle from the exhaust when pulling away. I got the local KwikFit to put it up on the ramps so I could find the source. It appears to be the catalytic converter but the blokes at Kwikfit just said "It's coming from in there" pointing at what I am guessing was the cat. I only used Kwikfit because it was oppostie the shop my wife was visiting and they had no idea of the costs and they weren't listed in the book.

Anyone replaced their cats yet?
Any ideas of rough prices for parts and labour?
Is it worth saving money on non-genuine MB parts?

I had one done at merc two years ago, they made a contribution so it worked out the same as going to a indepented. where ever you go you should always use an orig merc parts imo. I paid a little under £600 inc vat but that was two years ago I am sure they are cheeper now.

I had one replaced on my SL320 and it also was about £600 inc labour.
