CL500 09/09 (2010 my M273 Engine) Now completed 40K Palladium/Black
Today I have taken delivery of a brilliant car.

The provenance is impeccable and customers who saw it roped off in the MB showroom thought it was new with a private registration. (59 plate)

It is Palladium Silver with a black interior. After a 2 hour induction both myself, the specialist and the product manager were still finding things out about it.

The only thing I requested to be sorted were the wheel centre caps, as they were slightly blemished on two of them. The other remaining item is whether with a split screen option, this should come with a remote control for the passenger as inclusive, or is this an additional option? MB are trying to find out and will provide me with one either way. This is for the wife!!

I have only driven the car 12 miles to date and all I can say is WOW!!!

I have had some good cars in my time but nothing compares to the technology or the aesthetic beauty of this one. I have a 250 mile drive tomorrow and for once am looking forward to it.

I will report further down the line.

Lovely cars, the remote will be the most expensive remote control ever sold, they were extra where fitted.

Pleased you got there, I doubt whether you will find anything not nice about it.

I had the chance today to use the facility where the driver can control the passenger seat right down to the heating and cooling.

In a similar position Michael - pick up my Flint Grey and Anthracite CL500 (2010) on Friday afternoon. I'll have a 250 mile jaunt back ! I'm hoping there will be some traffic queues on the way back to give me time to read part of the manual..

If you come up with any handy things you find on yours feel free to let me know and I'll do likewise !

Hi JonnyCJ

Drove back from Plymouth to Leicester in unpleasant weather.

The journey was the opposite - very pleasant.

I had the benefit of the manual three days prior to me picking up the car, however without being in the car to practice these things, it seemed never ending.

I wrote a lot of detail in this reply, but it has disappeared into nowhere.

I will be in touch over the next week when you get back. We will learn together!!

I hope your purchase turns out as well as mine, The chap I spoke to was called John I think, he seemed very helpful. Flint grey is a great colour.

Good to see other CL216 owners on the Forum, It took me months to get through the manual and when I got to the end I could not remember the beginning, but I have to say the 216 is an awesome car to own and drive.
My CL came with remote and headphones but no one has ever used them so took them out, as Malcolm says the replacement price would be extortionate.

Yep - it is Jon

Also arranged a very good value warranty direct 2yr warranty for a great price, effectively £1k for 28 months cover with their second highest level of cover. They cover wear and tear as well which most other warranties don't.

If anyone wants a quote give them a call and ask for Fiona Stevens - she's extremely good !

Great cars, just put my winter alloys on, 17" with 235 X 55 Nokia winter rubber. What a lovely ride it makes, looks? ....not so good IMO!

Had mine for 2 years now, usually I'd be changing but TBH I don't see the point, only 44k miles, still the nicest looking car in the car park, has everything I'll ever need.

Not easy with the wheel is it, I do not use my 20" AMG's and just use the 18" where the drive is excellent.

Back safely - all went well and it drives like a dream ! 29.4mpg over 260 miles, distronic was as good as my W215 and managed to get a grip of what everything does pretty swiftly.

All in all very pleased :)

Do not forget that the distronic plus takes you down to a stop, blip the throttle or lift the stalk and the car starts off again and goes to the preset speed

Well done JohnnyCJ

Two satisfied buyers of a CL500 (W216) for the first time in the same week.

I am impressed about the mileage, I didn't work out how to use anything
until I got back but am working my way through the manual slowly.

I have never had a car that impressed me more, the one thing that I did not need to set up was the Blind Spot Assist. This immediately felt comfortable and I drove instinctively with it. There is no need to focus, you are aware of the warnings.

Rotorhead500 was absolutely right when asking if I purchased from MB Plymouth. They could not have been more helpful and they rang a short while ago to check that everything was alright with the car.

The previous owner has just had a new car delivered to him and said he could not remember having a remote for the Splitscreen, despite this, Jack at MB Plymouth has arranged to order one for me at no extra cost. I understand that this is not a necessary requirement as pointed out by Television, but it is nice to complete the set. This is the length that MB Plymouth have gone to in their customer service.
As I travel down to Plymouth 3 or four time a year, I am likely to remain with their service department, even though MB Leicester charges are
approximately 15% less, according to the Mercedes quote system.

I have every faith in them taking the trouble to provide good service levels.

The car has not moved from the garage since I came back as the weather has not been great and I need to understand the nuances of COMAND!!!

I look forward to further reports from JonnyCJ and any other owners of this model. I think I am already addicted.

Used to have a C63...
No harm in letting Plymouth MB know they are dearer than Leicester!

Nigel in Service seems like a decent chap - I hope the warm experience continues for you!

I do like the look of the CL - when I was in there recently, a chap was collecting his new S Class Coupe... it was very nice!

Fitted the garage door opener rear view mirror today. Took about 20mins all in.

The important thing to know is that the overhead control panel comes down by unscrewing the two plastic bolt heads in the sunglasses cubby. The whole ocp then falls down.

Undo the 4 X Torx screws and unplug the the two wire connections and you can remove the rear view mirror.

You'll then notice that the mirror is held in by a spring to a H shaped bracket. Prize the two sections apart and fit your new mirror in the reverse order.

You may need to clamp the H section and mirror part in a vice so that the spring fits into it's location. It's pretty straight forward as you dismantle to work out what's going on.

Also worth noting that you'll need to prise out the two plastic sections that surround the mirror stalk.

All in all a very cheap way to get a £700 upgrade !

Only difficult thing is find get a used CL mirror with garage door opener :)
