Hi Guys.
Got a problem.
A friend bought a CLS not so long ago. I suspected it had rear end damage, but he loved it so bought it.
Immediately after buying it he had it serviced by mercedes.
Over the past few months he noticed it was having issues starting up. Some time running the battery flat.
He took it to MBUK they checked it and said one of the battery terminals was loose, so reconnected it, and charged him, they also said the battery strap was missing so he purchased that.
At the time he noticed a fair amount of "water" in the tyre well and damage to the top left corner of the battery.
Yesterday he called the AA, who faffed about testing the battery and various things then said the battery is fine, so the drain is on something else.
Anyway, today i was trying to help him check the drain using a multimeter, which came back as fine. I checked the fuses in the box in the drivers side, which showed the 4 fuses that control the windows and mirror as having a 8.7v drain. I put them back in.
He insisted on buying a new battery without diagnosing the fault. We bought a Bosch S4 (which GSF said was the OEM, although the battery in the car was VARTA (with Merc info stickers on it). We took the battery out and a Huge chunk of the corner was missing exposing the inside of the battery. Shocked MBUK didn't notice this seen as he paid to have it checked.
We replaced the battery, and the car started fine. Then noticed the comfort window functions where not functioning on 3 of the windows(One push to make windows go up, the windows automatically coming down and up a bit when you pull the handle). We then swapped the fuses, and Another started working correctly and the other 3 didnt.
Any ideas?
p.s. sorry its wordy.
