does anybody know where I can get a referred command unit,as I think my sons has a fault that’s draining the battery.i had a new one about 10years ago fitted by a guy called bill Hammett but I don’t know if he’s still doing this stuff anymore.

Talk to Comand on Line would be my suggestion before you pop for a replacement HU - they may be able to point you in the right direction if a current leak (is it defo the HU and not a glovebox light?), solve it or sort you out a unit (or of course there is the 'Bay)

If it is the HU, update to a newer Android unit?

Right seems that the command unit isn’t switching off, turned command unit off from unit and car starts every time but turn unit on and turn car off and within 24 hrs the battery is dead.so seems like a fault in the command unit, can anybody tell me 1:are they plug and play??
2:does it need to be coded to the car by star??
Many thanks

Before you change the HU have you had the battery properly tested, it may start the engine but certainly in my R230 the Comand unit is very sensitive to a low battery and won't shut down if your battery is even slightly tired. I know my R230 has two batteries which the 220 doesn't but I dare say the Comand unit is the same. I put a brand new consumer battery in mine which I charged to 70% thinking it would fine but it still drained. Then a helpful member on here told me I need to charge the battery right up so I did, hey presto touch would eight months on not a problem since. Definitely worth getting the battery properly tested first as it has to be cheaper than even a second hand Comand unit. :)

I had Bath Audio recommended to me as COMAND 2.5 experts.

Yep I’ve had battery tested and it’s good, talked to Mercedes and the tec guy said it could be a firmware glitch in the COMAND unit so trying to source a firmware update disc.

that means bring it in so we can

1) download how its been serviced so we can modify how much we try to stop others doing it outside the franchise
2) plug it in our diagnostic so we can bill you £250
3) confirm the DTF features are working nicely
4) do nothing because the last guy that understood these cars left 10 years ago (and he actually worked at the big garage 25 miles away and never helped us out... ever)

Is there any way of testing car to diagnose where the battery drain could be coming from ??

Pretty much the same problem we have on our SL. Turn the unit on and the battery drains overnight. Turn it off and next start it's still drained the battery but after that it can do a week or two no problems.
Working up the enthusiasm to remove it...

I think it translates as "repaired" - probably an iPhone autocorrect thing!

Indeed (but not iPhone). This damned forum really screws the autocorrect and word completion on this phone. Fine everywhere else!

This needs proper diagnosis. It might not be the comand. Any one of the other devices on the fibre (D2B) ring could be causing it all to wake up. On first glance it does look like the comand but I would check the other devices first. do this by disconnecting them in turn and see if the problem goes. Start with the components in the boot on the left side.

Yes but it might be a very lengthy job finding the fault.

It could be any one of the devices attached to the comand, the comand itself, a wake up fault or a spurious wiring corrosion somewhere.

I would start by making sure there is no damp at all in the rear of the boot near the Cd changer/bose amp, then the passenger footwell (known area for damp). Damp can easily cause a wake up fault.
