correct setup for software

Hi all i have purchased icarsoft 7.4 to fault find abs /bas /no speedo on my w202 c class 1998 petrol.I am not sure whether i have the correct cable setup.I am using my old mb interface with rs connectors.My questions are can i use Rs to Usb connection Cable back to computer & can this software be used with WIN 8 or can it only read with Win XP. Any info on this would be very much appreciated.Car in excellent condition only 80,000mls want ot keep it going

I can't answer about Windows 8 but I know that USB to serial adapters can be problematic.
The Carsoft kit should include the correct cables and multiplexer.
There are 2 different versions of multiplexer. One has a massive 3" long connector to the car and the other a serial cable sized connector. You need the one with the huge connector.

The connection of the cables is pretty obvious with the right kit.

Havent a clue on the system your using but check the nsf wheel speed sensor. ;)

I'd listen to the man above.

IME, the older Carsoft 7.2 ,7.4 needs to run on something using XP; so usually an aged laptop with knackered battery.

An old i980 might be the ticket, cheap now they're of limited use?

Many thanks for your reply but i still have the original mb interface & cables i bought about 10yrs ago.i lost the original disc that came with the kit so purchased the new software 3mths ago.I just wasnt sure whether it could be connected via usb / rs which most laptops do not have.

Many thanks but i already changed both front sensors still have the lights on dash & speedo is not working& i do know there is a link between these 2 systems not working.Also changed brake light switch.

i980 no use on 38 pin cars....
