Yes I guess some do ask in fact I think at renewal the question was asked but excluding glass claims. The price not going via insurance was found by going through the autoglass site as a non-insurance customer. I was flabbergasted and always make sure I get windscreen cover!!

Having a new windscreen fitted to the lorry on friday. I'm supplying the screen £25, plus £80 fitted. :D
Sometimes it pays to shop around first on old vehicles plus being a standard rubber fitted one makes a big difference to the cost.

I'd be be surprised if a 2017 SL didn't have a bonded windscreen.
I tend to go for insurance policies that cover glass - small print often stipulates 1 claim in 3 years for the windscreen.

Bonded on SL.
My 43 year old cars has a bonded screen, that cost me £100 just for fitting, didn't use that guy again!
2001 car has a rubber seal, I think it all depended on the manufactures cheapness to run bonded or rubber seals??

Thanks all, I checked my policy and I think its only £60 excess phew. One company are looking to charge over £1800 for a direct payment!
Plus i think it was caused by the awful condition of the roads near me.
