Dash illumination lights and centre consule lights..

I am running the lights in the auto setting and everything is fine .I noticed tonight after a small time sitting outside the train station with engine of and key still in ignition ,the dash illumination started flashing on and of a number of times then stopped?is this normal?i did get it to do the same when I got home ,like I have said lights are working fine still..

It will go off after a while to save the battery... not had one flash before though
