W221 S65 AMG - W204 C63 AMG + Various other MB's
My 2014 W212 is due for a B1 service. Priced at £556 which has served to remind me why I moved away from MB previously. All my local dealers are Lookers so the price will be the same across all of them. Has anyone had any luck getting a better price from a different franchise? I could of course go to an indie but....
a) do indies update the electronic service record that MB hold?
b) would I get any TSBs, software updates, map updates etc automatically that would be done by an MB dealership?
I don't plan to keep the car forever so prefer a genuine MB service record but these prices take the p!ss for what they do. It's still only an oil change, a bit of AdBlue, a couple of filters and a check of various bits. No more than any other manufacturer does for far less money.

With most 1) Yes, 2, Yes (if they have genuine diag subscription.

We have had 6 MB's in the last 20 years, all serviced at MB.
I had a very good relationship with the old service manager unfortunately now retired. Lots of discounts & would collect & return the car for service, plus a FOC loan car for the day. I also had some very good service contracts, he would advice me when they were coming out.
But from now on I shall be using Independents, MB are just too expensive now.

Yep, can’t decide whether to go for the £45pm service contract especially with my low mileage <3k Pa - probably not my local Indy quoted £250 for an A and I would imagine £350 for a B plus 2 x MOT @£45 ea so all told circa £600 so what I would save is enough to service the 9g gearbox

Mobilo only gets renewed if you have a dealer service
Not correct and its what they dont tell you. A Mercedes-Benz Authorised Repairer with access to the DSB. They tell you a dealer (bull).
I got my W251 from down south from a MB specialist, it was serviced by them for a few years. All shown up on Mercedes DSB and kept mobilo intact.

Declined Mercedes Southampton kind offer of a renewed service plan at £79 a month as my old, 3 year one at £40 a month is just about to expire. Back at the end of October, when I last had a service, they quoted £45 a month to include an annual MOT. Now, it's £79, apparently much more expensive because I have an AMG. The young lady tried to convince me I would pay far more for the service without the plan. At £960 a year, I don't think so!

That must have changed then. Five years ago, when I had my C207, it was serviced by MBS Southampton and the DSB was updated but Mobilo was showing as expired.

Only the Vito left! W639/1 OM646
... WIS/ASRA/Xentry does cost a fortune, but is not required or needed to service a vehicle.
Unless things have changed, the only reason to plug it in during a service is to reset the service counter. Otherwise, that can be done without expensive equipment.
A Mercedes service does not include a scan. An Indie may well put it through a scan, but MB won't unless you pay extra.

Having ran Mobilo through the Courts a number of times I can only give you my experience that it is a necessity for Mobilo that you adhere to the requirements for MA servicing.

I am always willing to learn otherwise.

Hi Guys
Looking at serious expense for a Service B and Transmission oil service (5 years or 75000 miles) + bits that their system says needs replacing. Approx 2k with a MB dealer in Watford.
My car has only done 18000 miles!
Any ideas to reduce costs etc
Yes try mb Southend for a quote - let us know

Whereabouts in the country are you? An indie will better than by a mile.

I am in the HA5 - Harrow area of NW London. I only have 4 years NCD but still a 130% increase is nuts.
My next door door neighbour has a Land Rover discovery and his his insura has refused to quote for his renewal............
I feel high end car manufactures' are really going to struggle to shift their stock.

I think we've got an insurance item in a servicing costs thread causing some confusion?

A DSB subscription is FOC, you just need to be VAT registered.

WIS/ASRA/Xentry is a small fortune. I dont see how you can operate without it personally.
Hi, do you have experience replacing the oil cooler seals and the sump on an ML350 diesel?

Every Indy has loads of experience of Oil Cooler Seals, £10 of parts and 8 hours to do it
Yeah as sadly MB in their wisdom decided to put everything including the kitchen sink in the V and the oil cooler sits cosily right at the bottom.

Yes, it’s almost right of passage with the OM642, most of us have been there my E350cdi was done last year and I sold it this year so the new owner can look forward to no oil cooler seal blues.

The new oil seals (improved part) are coloured purple the old seals are orange still have them as a trophy in my garage lol
