I've had the "Black Death" on just one injector on my car - I've nearly finished the job, I've followed all the advice, and I'm putting it all back together now.
I've bought a replacement clamp and bolt and I'm wondering how tight to do up the bolt, because I've heard it's a stretch bolt?
Thanks in advance,
The car is an 1999 E220CDI with the OM611.961 engine.

S class
7nm is the recommended torque then turn a further 90 degrees followed by a further 90 degree turn.
You need to make sure that the threaded bolt hole is completely clean and free from fluids and debris.

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
Don't forget the ceramic grease applied to the injector body.

Thank you very much.
Yes I used the old bolt and cut a slot in it to make a thread chaser to clear out the hole which worked very well.
Yup ceramic grease was used.
Hoping for a good result!

Don't forget you need a clean seat for the injector in the head and the injector itself needs to be clean where the washer seats.

Its a stretch bolt, no need to chicken out. Its designed to go to that torque, if it isn't at the correct torque you risk the bolt coming out.

You are right Steve. To be fair, I got about 45 deg into it but then you know that feeling you get when a bolt is about to snap...well that's how it felt lol.

I guess having done loads you are used to it, I didn't want to risk a stripped thread incase I had missed something or not cleaned the threads properly etc.

Thanks everyone.
After the 7Nm, I used a 1 meter breaker bar to do the pair of 90° for accuracy but also so I wouldn't get the sensation that would make me chicken out.

The job was a complete success!

I recommend using the Laser tools, they make it a lot easier.
One set is a seat cutter, and the other is a cleaning kit that gets rid of the gunk from all the different areas it gets in.

Laser set 4597 and 6101.

Hi All, just a quick question, I have ML270 CDi 2001 - in the case to the black death, do the injector clamps need to be replaced with new ones?

I grind a flat in the old bolt and use that to chase the threads.

I also roll up a blue roll and feed it in to ensure no old diesel etc is sitting in the bottom of the hole

Another quick question, I know the return line has a tiny O ring - are there any other O rings that go on the fuel injector itself?

I guess there aren't any O rings on the injectors.

That's the copper washer that seals and sits below the injector.
