Difference between c200CDI and C220 CDI ?

I've searched, but not found an answer here so...

Can anyone tell me the difference between the C200 CDI and C220 CDI engines ? (W203) other than the ECU mapping.

Is it just the engine size? 200cc more in the C220?

It's not engine size, I've always assumed it is related to turbocharger size and ECU settings.

The 200CDI engine was typically created for Tax purposes here in Germany. I havent personally looked at them, but spoken several times with Taxi Drivers who tend to buy the E200cdi as its much cheaper, then change the injectors and ECU. From what they describe, the two engines are physically identical.

Compare part numbers on key components, such as injectors, turbo-charger etc to give an idea about what differs.

Just to add to the above, if your willing to pay EUR15,00 (approx 11quid) for 1 years access, you can look directly onto Mercedes Parts Catalogue which has VIN filtering etc, more useful that the Russian site as its in English.

It was my suspiscion that both engines were near identical, but with different ECU maps - but you guys seem to be suggesting that the injectors are also different ?

I wonder if there is a company in the UK who will upgrade the injectors and ECU and how much that would cost.... ?
