Different size tyres front & back?

OK guys, so when I looked over the car (2005 220CDI SE Evolution Coupe) before buying it a few days ago, I checked the tyres for tread and cracks etc as you do, and all fine and car feels good driving along, so no real issue ........ but ..... I noticed today I've actually got different size tyres (don't know how I missed that ) I've got 225/40/17 (94W) on the front and 245/40/17 (95W) on the back. Is the combo OK?? I've looked around for answers and still not sure and if it is Ok is it still 30psi in the front and 33psi in the rear? Never had different size tyres on a car, so def. a bit

The tyre sizes for the car should be

Front 225/45 R17
Rear 245/40 R17



I would drop the rear pressures by 2psi to get more even wear, check they are correct, they should be listed on the fuel filler cap

That is fine, on mine I have 235 fronts and 255 rears. No problem

You'll find out if cruise control won't engage or drops off at higher speeds... usually 3-5% difference in actual rolling radius triggers cc off.

Quite normal, normally though a lower profile rear to compensate for the width. Will be fine.
German manufacturers have gone with staggered set ups on their more sporting models forever (nearly!)
