Doesn't it also cause a significant and immediate deduction from your wallet as well?
Point me in the direction of a car that doesnt!!

Which car do you look back at the most when you park up and walk away? That’s the one to keep!

V12 is the better long term investment, if you keep it original and immaculate condition, but cars are there to be driven and experienced on an emotional level not just as a piece of art increasing in value.

We may have come to a decision. We may well sell the SLK55, CL600 and CL500 and buy me a Bentley Continental R. I've always really wanted one, but I've never sat in one, so that's something that needs to happen before any firm decisions are made. Other options are an AMG GT, S Class Coupe or an SL.

I hate making decisions like this!!!!!

S63 Coupe 2014
I can't afford one. :(
What about an S63 Coupe?
Enjoying mine so far. Boot is smaller than a 216 (no room for spare tyre or space saver), but its quieter and feels more special. Equipment list is nice, but I noticed that Driving Assistance (Distronic+), Magic Vision, Magic Body Control (ABC), Night Vision, Ventilated seats are optional and not always chosen on S500, but tend to be included on S63. Not sure if ABC is available on post face lift 217s (circa 2017) though.
Pre-face lift cars have the well known 5.5 litre M157 twin turbo with 577bhp, post face lift cars the 4.0 litre M177 with 600bhp.

JBell has flagged my comment - you can't afford to get an S65/3, can afford to maintain 3 high spec MB's but are prepared to take on the maintenance costs of a Bently!! Helen, you need a reality check - but with your background would it work??:eek:

100% keep anything with a V12 in it. It will be an appeciating classic.
But likely killed by electronic costs, and prices to repair the same. I sold my Vdoz for that reason. Great fun, sound great but likely to incur large ongoing costs and difficulties sourcing parts and experienced help. Coil packs, turbo, s. Suspension pts. abc where fitted, pse. Modules. As they age the list gets longer.

Try one as above, they are a very different experience but also oh special too, I’ll admit I’ve been toying with the idea of an Arnarge or earlier Continental Flying Spur. Always wanted an Arnarge after my fist boss bought one and took me for a ride in it,

Don’t know what you mean by a Continental R but the Continental is one of the cars I trade in.

It’s a posh Audi A8 but, the main issues are that the engine bay redefines tightly packed! Seriously it’s like a gangbang under the hood. It will make a v8 look like child’s play! I have come across 2 low milers with head gasket issues and when having spoken to a specialist he said that they have seen a few at low and high mileages! They are common for misfires. I had to get sensor or small pump put right put right on one a few years ago and the front end and wing had to come off! Everyone I have flipped I’ve had to get a radiator on as part of work to make it the best as they split quite easily.

A bit of a dinosaur unless you get a 2018 onwards. I’d say go for at least the GT speed model and genuinely consider a super sport if you are genuinely serious. I’ve found the older ones hard to shift even if they are great and the 2015 onwards is where you get more serious buyers and then again at 2018 onwards, which is worth nothing if you only plan to keep one a short time.

Funnily enough this popped up on my YouTube list this morning which made interesting viewing especially if you are thinking of owning one:

I will have a look later, I may learn something new myself. Is that some YouTuber who has bought lemon and whinging about it or a mechanic who talks you around it?

The good thing with cars that are not your average choice, make it easier to spot a lemon and a good one.

With the Spur I only traded one of those many years ago and was purchased with 1 owner who used it as as a family road trip car and had the supersport body kit fitted, so back then it stood out. I had lots of interest from companies that were trying to get into the chauffeur, wedding business, but, not a single call from a private buyer, when I though I’d have more interest from private buyers too, so never got another. The coupes on the other had, are the complete opposite.

So as I say, when you get these expect that you will not sell them on! Established business will only have new, no private buyer will want one etc.

The good thing is like the type of cars I trade, the owners are far from your boy racer types or folks trying be like delboy, hence why it’s easier to spot a lemon.

Yes, a typical YouTube video in the fact that the car is a well used example on a 08 plate, well worth a watch through it does mirror most of your comments when the specialist gets down to the nitty gritty of what’s wrong but doesn’t reveal the ££££ cost to put it right lol

Do send me some pictures of the CL600....

Bentley Continental for me are just such a meh experience. Very VAG in switch gear, it doesnt have much personality. I'd much rather find an S65, CL65 or even an SL55 AMG.
