SL63 certainly has loads of personality, if that's what you're interested in. To me, Bentley is badge engineered VW brand.

Do send me some pictures of the CL600....

Bentley Continental for me are just such a meh experience. Very VAG in switch gear, it doesnt have much personality. I'd much rather find an S65, CL65 or even an SL55 AMG.

I agree, very much an overhyped experience and should be more for a Bentley, despite wearing a different coat, the driving experience isn’t anything special. The post 2018 is nice and much more like it.

I was looking at CL500, Bentley Continental GT and Porsche 911 back in 2011/12 - I'm still very happy with the choice I made and think I "won" on the maintenance and residual.
CL500 is a great "sleeper" Bentley and 911 a lot less so...

S63 Coupe 2014
As mentioned by @DSK, whatever you choose go for the Coupe version as they have a better resale appeal than the saloon. Admittedly more expensive to purchase in the first place, but most of these big saloons are bought by companies as chauffeured cars.

Liked the video, boy did that engine bay look tight, surprised to see that the front brake callipers don't have pistons on both sides.

Sort of why I’m thinking the Arnarge in T form is what I would buy (a mulliner example if possible) something about them that feels much more special than the Flying Spur

This S65 might well be of interest.
Owned and maintained by a real MB enthusiast.

Don’t know what you mean by a Continental R but the Continental is one of the cars I trade in.

It’s a posh Audi A8 but, the main issues are that the engine bay redefines tightly packed! Seriously it’s like a gangbang under the hood. It will make a v8 look like child’s play! I have come across 2 low milers with head gasket issues and when having spoken to a specialist he said that they have seen a few at low and high mileages! They are common for misfires. I had to get sensor or small pump put right put right on one a few years ago and the front end and wing had to come off! Everyone I have flipped I’ve had to get a radiator on as part of work to make it the best as they split quite easily.

A bit of a dinosaur unless you get a 2018 onwards. I’d say go for at least the GT speed model and genuinely consider a super sport if you are genuinely serious. I’ve found the older ones hard to shift even if they are great and the 2015 onwards is where you get more serious buyers and then again at 2018 onwards, which is worth nothing if you only plan to keep one a short time.

Funnily enough this popped up on my YouTube list this morning which made interesting viewing especially if you are thinking of owning one:

I'm not talking about getting one of those awful pieces of cr@p. I'm talking about a Continental R which was made in the 90s. 1709156277492.png

This is my 600

Ah I see, when people generally say Continental the default is usually the ones ones after 2004.

The early ones I can’t comment on but certainly look like a sound investment and being a fan of older stuff, I say best of luck in finding the one you want. Somewhat different, what about the SEC series MB?

S63 Coupe 2014
We tried one and we were both very underwhelmed.

I think i've narrowed it down to a Continental R or an S63 Coupe.
I expect that you'll need a specialist for that age of Bentley, but I like it.
I think that the interior of the 215, especially the CL600 is more plush than that of the 216, all be it a little dated.
So far I'm preferring the S63 Coupe on looks and finish although boot space is less, to the 216. Dynamically, with ABC it's just as pin sharp in handling as the 215 and 216. Prices for the 217 S63 are coming down. Yes they run on 98 octane petrol and new front discs are pricey, but if your mileage is low then its not really an issue. If you're not keen on an electronic dash (no real gauges) then you may not like it, but with HUD you don't need to look at it. :)

We're lucky to have a specialist just down the road in Peterborough.

I couldn't agree more.

It's definitely in the running.

Those old Bentleys do absolutely nothing for me whatsoever. I've worked on a few too and I just dont see the love for them, but each to their own.

I very much like your CL600. Lovely.

That was what I thought Helen meant by Continental R. Proper old-fashioned motor - makes a CL look like a mass-production car. But that could be a good thing for reliability...
