One of the digital figures on the temperature gauge display on my CLK is not showing up correctly - as if some of the segments that make up the figure have disappeared. Does anyone know of an easy fix, or do I have to change my car like some people do when the ashtrays are full?

A new car is the simplest route!
I assume you have the facelift dash with the square central display, clock on one side and temp on the other.
The pixelation is very common. It's caused by a poor connection but despite stripping it down, I was never able to get anywhere with mine. Eventually I just put up with it and then changed the car. It starts with a couple of missing dots but eventually mine ended up with neither display being readable.

Some firms allegedly repair them these days for around £250 whereas a new cluster would set you back around £600-£700.
The only repairer I can remember is
