The problem with 'live wiring' the fuel pump,is that it will cause fuses to blow.It's only a short-term fix.An ageing or intermitent fuel pump just zaps the electric power,even on start-up.

I think the problem with hardwiring the fuel pump is that when you turn the ign off the relay ground the contacts.

The only good indi near here is Cornerstone at Ilminster (Ilton) (there are now two places that claim to specialise in Mercedes in Taunton but I haven't tried them).
