I have a noise that is driving me mad - not that it is very loud but that I can not find the cause.
At speeds between 50and 70MPH there is a groan from the rear of the car - it appears to be only speed related ie it is there with power on or off - If it was a Fiat 131 which I owned many years ago I would go straight to the prop shaft and know the spigot bearing was gone but on inspection there is no play. There is however some play in the CV joints at the back axle (in the joint not the axle)
does anyone know if there should be play in these joints and are they hard to replace.
