I have just bought an e350 estate and im very pleased
however the supplement audio 20 manual says that there is a socket in the glove compartment to connect an ipod or other devices. This socket is elusive as I can’t find it.

does anyone know where it is ? It has Bluetooth for my phone and I naively thought it would use that for media too like it does on my c200.

any help appreciated. alternatively what can I replace the head with easily to give me that facil whilst not losing original phone ability ?

p.s. im new so hi

I’ll take a picture of mine in the morning if I remember, it’s further back than you would think in the glovebox but certainly there is the car was spec’d with the media package.
You might also be able to enable the Bluetooth streaming in the engineering mode, it’s a hidden menu that I know is available with command system but I’m not sure if it might be the same for audio20. Have a search of YouTube for engineering mode audio20 enable Bluetooth media, if it can be done them I’m sure it will be there.

Just because the manual mentions it, that doesnt mean your car has it - optional extra. Its the way manuals are.
Check what options came with your car to confirm.

I have recently had the same issue with my car just the audio 20 1 disc Bluetooth for the phone but no streaming very very expensive to add the required to add ipod, satnav streaming
so i removed the audio 20 and fitted a double din pioneer unit with everything i need
very pleased with it after 2 months use so far

Thanks ian for the idea. Does that mean you’ve lost the air vents above the audio 20 and the screen above that is unused now ?

ive tried going into engineering option but nothing happens with those three keys

Nothing worked in engineering mode with mine too.
so this is what it looks like the buttons under the audio 20 relocate to in front of the screen…the screens still there behind
the steering wheel controls work perfectly
the rotary control behind the gear selector doesn’t work though 64581324-046D-4685-8DC9-2033DBA17CF9.jpeg

So the buttons for heated seats are relocated to in front of the radio screen ? That look good. Did you fit this yourself or pay someone to fit it. ? How much did it cost and what are the units cost please ?

I particularly like having carplay too.

many thank for your help

I was also looking at getting a reverse camera too.

Yes its quite easy to fit
the unit was about 350 £ pioneer SPH-DA230DAB
the dash adapter, top screen part, wiring adapter and remote control interface and dab aerial was about £120 from connects2
hardest job is running wire from dab aerial from top of windscreen to unit.
the pioneer reverse cam is about £65

Late response but here’s what the media interface looks like on the prefacelift 212, and the cable too.

I really should buy an old iPod and throw all my music on it at some point, just never got around to it for some reason.
