elegance, avantgaurd etc, whats the difference

Hi Alex, I while trawling the ads looking for a suitable car I did notice that there was far more av available.

But the Elegance (W203) C-class came with cloth as standard, and did not have the best looking alloys neither.

The Avantgarde had half-leather as standard (after 2004) and also had a better choice of alloys. Looked a lot nicer in my opinion, more modern!

All that horrible taxi-style blue glass. No walnut wood, and less toys to play with. Nope, for me the Elegance was very tasteful, looked like a proper Merc rather than a Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen creation and I still have a very large soft spot for mine. And if you like the AG and its wheels, then fine, but not to everyone's taste. I rather liked my W203 wheels, and the proper integration of its style made me a very happy man!

I presume you mean elegance. Anyway, have a look on Ebay.

the AG E Class had half leather and xenon lights, which made it more expensive than the Elegance. If you then specified full leather, the cost of that improvement was less as you already had half leather.

AG were 80% of e-class sales at one point - so 4 AGs for every Elegance sold - which would explain their availability in the used market.

It depends on the model and the year.

My first AG E class had cloth seats and no Xenons...but the one I have now has full leather and Xenons. But I have no idea whether these were standard on the present car.

90% sure that leather and Xenons are standard on the avantgarde from mid 06.

Assuming we're still talking W211, xenons were standard as you say but leather remained an option.

The point is you can't just say an Avantgarde is this or that, because it means different things on different models at different times.
