I have a mercedes 300se 1989. My problem is long wind up to start car when engine is warm. Transmission is automatic. When I stop at light or a junction the revs fluctuate from 5,000 to 20,000 Any advice please

Hi & Welcome,

Between 5,000 & 20,000 sure you haven't got a motorcycle engine in there instead of an IL6?

Or do you mean between 500 & 2,000?

Hard starting and erratic revs are usually caused by faulty OVP relay. Usually you get erratic ABS light too in combination with hard starts, erratic idle revs. Do search for OVP for more info as this is a common fault but it might be something else.
