The second last time I went to Fuerteventura my villa was immediately next (I mean 20 metres!) to where the building work was starting. Not the quietest of breaks and not a mistake I repeated!

Corralejo is a fabulous town and the hotel is amazing

I have been there twice, very quiet if no building going on. Been to the Canaries about 12 times with Lilian, I would still love to go back but its too much for Lilian these days and sadly no longer cheap as it was in the Peseta days.

It's their winter too so down to 20c right now

We go to the Canaries twice a year, autumn, Dec last year, and spring.
You get the odd cloudy day but the temperature will hit 20 plus around NewYear and mid 20s in the rest of the off season.
Although Fuerteventura means "windy island" it was very calm last year, but a group of islands in mid Atlantic does see some great waves and wind sports.

Most of January the temps can get up to 25c in Porto Rico in Grand Canaria, this is the warmest of them.

Instead of long haul it makes a great place for winter sun,we always take a villa, fly from Gatwick, everywhere's near the coast and the seafood is spectacular.

Yes it does,, we did go from our Local Exeter airport,, like a little bus station really and only 4 hours flight time. We loved the sea food too

Got to iron the mankini and straighten the leather backstraps on my thongs as if it dries out and you dont grease it its gets like a cheesewire and plays havoc with the haemorroids.

I visited The Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real in Fuerteventura last November and it was amazing! The hotel was beautiful, I could not fault anything and the staff could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable.

Also the weather was just perfect, not too hot but still warm enough to wear shorts and t-shirt. I agree with stevieb15, it's a great place for winter sun.

We had breakfast outside every morning, a wonder on the beach, then a bit of sun bathing followed by a treatment in the spa and finally dinner...Not a bad routine for a week! They also had some lovely entertainment in the piano bar most evenings...very relaxing and Spanish!

We also ventured out and hired ourselves car. I believe it cost us around 100 Euros for the whole week (collected from airport), which meant we could see the island and eat out if we wanted. It worked out cheaper than getting taxis.

I would definitely recommend anyone to go and if you book early the flights with EasyJet were sooo cheap!

We just had a member of the MBO tell us that they visited the hotel using the club discount and were amazed with the resort and service. You must go!

10% off rack rate at a 5 star hotel is a start, but not a sizeable discount.

There will usually be several hotels in any destination trying to fill a hole in their occupancy with big discounts in booking engines like hotels.com or laterooms.com. Check on Tripadvisor that it is not a hell-hole, and Bob's your uncle.
