I've just used the discount code to check for a 1 week booking in mid April, total price came up as 1,864 euros, the same room and dates on laterooms.com gave me a price of 1,563 euros (£260 cheaper).

Looks nice but a bit to rich for my pocket for an early break.

Maybe the "Discount" is being shared.

Really not worth going to this area anyway. All the time is busy, crowded and deffo not clean.
Southern part has the best beaches on the island. Jandia Playa is just great, virgin and 247 clean. Same thing on expedia and booking.com way cheaper than the website.
Usually these hotels have higher prices advertised.
Is it really 5 * ? Tripadvisor reviews a bit weird.

It is indeed 5*!

They have been awarded 'Travellers' Choice 2013' by Tripadvisor and 'Best Hotel in Europe 2013" in the category "beachfront hotels" by Conde Nast Johansens.

The area when I went in November was very quiet and certainly no holiday makers about. The hotel was stunning, one of the best 5* hotels I've stayed in. :D

The great thing about these internet clearing houses is they allow hotels to list discounts for when they are quiet.

So the best way for us consumers to play the market is to be flexible on dates, scan lots of hotels for special deals, then use consumer feedback sites to check the discount is not because they have building work next door, or their reputation has collapsed.

We recently stayed in a 4* beachfront hotel in Cyprus, rated Platinum by Thomson, in a sea view balcony room with a 2m wide bed. £200 each for a week half board. It was terrific, but if we looked at it again it might be closer to £700. It's all about finding the good hotel which is desperate for business at a given time imho.

Im currently looking for a holiday and become increasingly despondent with the outrageous quotes I'm getting.
So, having the time and interest in this, I thought I'd compare prices for a, IMO, typical family holiday.
Dates are chosen specifically to avoid time off school during revision / exam time.

I'm always suspicious of promotions, from any source, as it's usually a way of disposing of unwanted or (possibly) in this case, unbooked product. Often at a price exceeding the usual, or with a catch making it useless to most.

Tripadvisor is a good measure of a destination. It's not let me down yet.
The hotel gets a good rating, 4.5 stars out of 5 from 612 reviews.

Family of four. Two adults, two children (16 yr old twins).
Double deluxe side sea view room, X2.
July 27th - August 10th. 14 nights.

Cutting out the middle man and booking directly through the hotel, using the club's 10% discount. Price: €5745.60
current Google conversion rate giving ~ £4952.09

Using the middle man, Rooms.com. 25% discount. Price: £5119.66

I have to admit, the result has surprised me. Note to self; Have more faith.

Of course the price is absolutely ridiculous, being more than double my budget and not including flights but it's been an interesting exercise (for me anyway)
and it's nice to dream...

My advice would be booking.com, not always the best deal but always close, and you can look for apartments, hotels, 5*, hostels, the lot. As a one size fits all i find it the best solution for ease and only check laterooms, ebookers, others, etc if i don't like the prices there.

The trouble with discounts is the cheapest/best value hotels will not give any discounts or deal with any organisations that do...the good value ones just link themselves to booking.com or something similar and know they will more or less be always full based on a good price...like when i was at work we had to use BA and the "proper airlines" because the company had negotiated a 20% discount with them...obviously ryanair and easyjet wouldn't negotiate so were banned from expense policy, even though without discount they were a third of the price and more convenient for me as they didn't use the oversized hellholes that are heathrow and gatwick!!

Also i'd ignore any review on tripadvisor as sadly most reviews seem to be given by morons...if you have an OK/great experience most won't bother reviewing, and that leaves a few kind people putting in nice words and the remainder are people with an axe to grind who aren't objective and may have caused the problems themselves. For example when looking at a perfectly centrally located, clean, refurbished 1* guesthouse for €25 a room i see 3 reviews mentioning it was clean and with helpful staff but giving it a low score because it was basic! it's 1* and €25 FFS!
