Hi, I recently had an MOT and it showed play in steering rack inner joint(s) offside front, suspension arm ball joint has slight play offside front upper amd emissions just met.
I have been trying to get both joints online, the website sends me to inner tie rod front axel for the steering joint. I think I have found the suspension arm ball joint offside front upper on Autodoc.co.uk (a Ridex for £15.52). Is a tie rod the same as a ball joint or includes the ball joint. Any ideas where to get and what part number I look for. For the emissions, what do I do with this.

Any ideas of ABS, ESP and Speedtronic inoperable warning. New wheel speed sensors?

I got the glowplug situation and gearbox was bored out and is working perfectly now and I fitted a new fog light unit yesterday, unfortunately a pheasant and I couldnt stop as I had traffic up my (you know where)

Thanks for the read.

Jules

A tie rod is sometimes called a track rod end and will be listed differently to a ball joint.

Thank you for the reply, would this be for the suspension ball joint.

Thanks Jules
Wait until someone else confirms it . As you mention “upper” in your first post .
My picture is of a front lower suspension arm ball joint .

Yes, I know everyone loves to hate Halfords but I've had some good deals from there, even that lower Lemforder ball joint is cheaper than Autodoc

Since Halfords got into the car parts scene their prices seem very competitive.
Better still is they do price match if Halfords is closer than another factors. So get a cheaper online price and stick it under their nose at the till.
I have a great relationship with the lads at my local GSF and they always knock
money off when I say - how much???

Just bought a iCarsoft I90. Ran the scanner on car an it pumped out.

ABR Adaptive Brake - 5486 and 430A (probably the brake switch or sensor)
Door Control Module Front Left - 9211 (left mirror open circuit)
Door Control Module Front Right - 9208 (right mirror open circuit)
ESM Electronic Selector Module Left Rear - P1861 (wheel speed sensor) (Would I need to do both sides, left and right)
PTS Parktronic - 9057 ????
Rear SAM - Rear Signal Acquisition and Actuation Module - 9032 (boot lock) I have got new lock unit already.
RevETR_LF - Left Front Reversible Tensioning Retractor - 5024 Historic
RevETR_RF - Right Front Reversible Tensioning Retrator 5024 (faulty oil pressure or sensor/switch???
System Diagnostics 930E - Not a clue
TCM - Transmission Control Module - D408 (could be wheel bearing and or sensor) ????

I think I need a ESP Steering Angle Sensor (I am hoping that this will remove ESP/ABS/Speedtronic/Cruise Control. Not going to even attempt that, its too complicated.

Should have bought a Lada.

Any ideas or suggestions on these please, would be very much appreciated.

My local Halfords were supplied by the motor factors l had a trade account with and often gave me a better price as my turnover was low working mainly on classic cars. I would order in Halfords the other side of town and collect from the motor factor on the way home to save the van going out and wasting everyone's time.
I could walk to the motor factor and back in less time but meant going past the pub and those parts wouldn't be fitted untilt the next day if walking. :)

Try clearing all the codes now you have them noted down and see what comes back. On my S211 the steering angle reset involved a drive at slow speed and a couple of turns. Mirror open circuit on my car was a replacement aftermarket glass fitted and the heater element not wired in as the original was auto dimming and the plug not compatible.

Hi, Thanks for the photos. I went to my local motoring shop in Hexham and I got both ball joints for about £32.00, I collect them tomorrow.

Has anybody noticed when you work with an iCarsoft I980, it drains the battery quite quickly.

Morning.

Just a little update about my Merc. I fitted a new stop lamp switch and two rear wheen sensors. All the warning lights have now gone off, ESP, ABS, Tyre pressure alert and I have my cruise control back. Happy days!!!! It just shows you dont have to get expensive parts and labour to rectify the situation.

I have the wheel ball joints, that were advisories of the MOT certificate, getting help with these. To fidly.

Thanks for all the help you all gave me.

Jules
