SLC 300 FINAL EDITION
Hi All,

My name is David, and I have just sold my beautiful Morgan Roadster Brooklands, and have now on order an SLC 300 Final Edition which I am hoping will arrive in the coming week. I must say I am really looking forward to a very new experience for me, and can only hope the lovely weather we are having allows us to get a good first taste of this lovely looking piece of German engineering.

Well, at the very least I'm hoping I can lose the towels for when it's raining and the roof leaks ;-)

Must agree that a Morgan is a unique 'experience'. Very enjoyable to drive, with lovely character, but after I spent some time two years ago at the factory, I was extremely disappointed at the finished articles. Each to his own!

Sure, many parts are made by hand using craftsmanship not seen in the rest of the motor industry, but today that seems to me to be a drawback, not an asset. If I damaged my door on a Morgan, I can't just buy a replacement - I would need to travel to the factory to have one made and fitted. Panel gaps are 'tailor made' and vary hugely from one car to another. The word 'fettling' must be a regular part of their vocabulary.

An owner would need to offset 'individuality' with practicality, and for me there are too many potential drawbacks in owning one.

I'm sure you'll get just as much enjoyment - in a different way - from your SLC. And I bet you'll end up driving it more than you did with the Morgan.

Just my very personal view ...

I have been a huge fan of handbuilt British cars for most of my motoring career, and the Morgan rates up there as on of the best. Agreed, the handcrafted nature of the car has it's issues, but that is contrasted with the absolute pleasure of the smiles, waves, shouts of flakes on the street as you drive by.
That being said, i sold her as the impractical nature of a car that leaks and has terrible visibility with the roof up has meant she wasn't really driven as much as she deserved to be. Oh and she had a polished Aluminium bonnet, way too much elbow grease required to keep it mirrored.
I really look forward to the SLC, with luck with me on Friday.....look forwards to lots of photos :)
