Use a drill pump attachment for your hose to pump the rain water

You could buy one of these and only use it for the rinse stage. Does about 400L of water before it needs a refill. Refills are £45

I have one of these and it worked well until it needed a refill. I have now abandoned it as refilling proved impossible. 1 - I couldn't get the top off and had to extract the spent filling beside the pump tube (messy and time-consuming); 2 - the refill filling has to be compressed and packed around the tube, which again I couldn't do without risking damage to the tube.

I've since discovered that rainwater (filtered if possible) does the job just as well if not better.

I think I may just stick with the one I linked to previously. I don't think it's refillable, but for the price I'm happy to just replace it every couple of years.

I'd only ever really worry about doing a "proper" rinse when the weather is good, this time of year a hard water rinse is fine for the most part.

Feeling lazy and full of Christmas lunch at the moment, so not thinking too hard about washing cars :)

I ocasionally have to clean telescope optics.. Now that is SO much more picky than any car cleaning.

You need to rinse with non-tap water.

Filtered rain water will do wonders, as will the waste water from a dehumidifier.

I use dehumidifier water for rinsing my optics..
