Hi,

After the cold spell both the eletric heated/cooled seats on both sides no longer work on our 2005 S211.

I suspect a central issue like a connection or fuse.

Where would people suggest to look?

Which one? The one in the boot or the engine bay? And which fuse? There are billions of the chappies.

There are fuse diagrams on each of the fusebox covers. I would start with the interior fusebox which is in the end of the dashboard, driver's side, and requires the driver door to be open to access.

Martin.

they wear out

the fans just fall off...
the pneumatic pipes fracture and leak
the foam deteriorates and the additional fun increases the stress on the heating elements till they give up

All the heated seats (front and rear) have stopped working. When pressing the button no lights appear.

Also, this car is fitted with cooled front seats and the do not work either.

I get seats wear out, but all four, and cooling, at the same time.

Sounds like something central has keeled over.

Going to check power to the main 20A fuse in a min...

Do try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins then reconnecting. I'm trying to think of anything they share.....

Okay...

Update from this evenings post work investigation before the light went.

Fuse 16 in the boot is okay.
Fuse 36 in the front dash fuse box (20A) is okay and gets 12V

Something seems to have upset the whole set heating/cooling thing.

@alexanderfoti Will do (tomorrow). I assume you mean the big one in the boot.

Okay. More oddness.

They have all decided to work for a few minutes on one run.
On return home they worked for the whole journey.

I can only assume a lose connection on that 20A fuse, or having removed it for a long while (minutes, maybe 10) reset something.

Thanks all!

The main battery is low and battery protection is turning them off until the battery voltage comes up. Charge the main battery and that will sort it

Usually when the battery is low, I get a message about connivence functions being disabled. Not getting that message. Although the car has not been used much (due to lockdown(s)) and the cold snap must have affected the main battery. It has been on a few decent runs recently (1hr plus each way) so I would assume hat would be a good charge.

However, I will need to measure again, the fuse was only showing 12.05V (engine off, ignition on) which would not imply a great state of charge. This was a few hours after a 45min run and about 10c.
