Help! Your opinion on buying CLK 200 (2009) A209

Hello guys!
I'm new here and I wanted your opinion on buying a 2009 convertible CLK 200
I found this one with a good deal ( 5000 Euros)
At least that's what I think lol
The car has only 120,000 km on it
I went to see the car and it looks good, sounded a bit loud when the engine turned on but he said it is because it was parked for a long time and hasn't been used so the oil needs to be changed
-Which model is this one because I dont know, Avantagrde, Elegeance, etc...
-I'm going to take it for inspection next week, is there anything in specific that I need to check?
-Is it a reliable car in general from anyone who owns one?
In the photos you can see that roof fabric is not looking very well, my biggest concern is that it will leak? Is it going to be a headache to fix it or should I replace it somehow?

Pleas let me know guys, would love to hear from your experience!

With the hood like that there is a good chance it will leak and that won’t be cheap to fix, take the photo to a dealer and ask for an idea on cost to fix. From the wheels I would say sport, but main way to tell is avantguard had very dark wood trim or aluminium, sport aluminium, elegance was. A lighter wood inside.

Your main concern should be the M271 engine with cam chain and sprocket failure at mileages beginning at 80k miles . A rattling for a few seconds on cold start is “sometimes “ an early warning .

The roof I don’t know , but would guess expensive

The gearbox dipstick tube is missing its locking tab , the car should have had a gearbox oil and filter change at 37500 miles

Fact it's loud on start up....what are you hearing? As Wighty if it's rattle walk away.
Hood= expensive
Can't say I'm impressed by the tyre choice, sometimes talks about the previous owners attitude to a premium car.....
Wheel studs are rusted on real good....

Looks like the sport with those 18” wheels , the Avantgarde was 17’s .
Elegance would probably have wood on the dash ?

Don't these suffer from Camchain and sprocket wear? is it a chain noise your hearing when its cold?

Price in cam chain n sprocket change .replacement s top or quality repair .if still cheap maybe,if not walk. Scruffy car =scruffy maintenance ,in my view.I dont buy em. To many hidden issues on todays 8.1yr cars. Look for a nice one...

Looks generally pretty dirty under the bonnet, indicating that the owner rarely had a look under and gave anything a wipe down, thus not being on top maintenece generally, then again maybe its just how I am... I would walk.

One point to note on these CLK's is rust! Lots of them in the UK are being reported on the MOT for the rear sub frame rusting and weakening with MOT's being refused. There were lots of nice looking clean examples on sale here in the UK but, when I did an MOT check, I decided against going to view.

Weclome I had one but a hardtop, personally I wouldn't touch it looking at the state of the roof & engine. I am sure you could find much better ones out there.

Hi, we've got a very similar A209 car (Elegance with the same wheels) and love it, but i wouldn't buy that..the stapled roof is a clue..unless its going for peanuts and you have lots of time.
