Hood sensor problem. Help needed please!

Hi all, I have a 07 clk convertible. The hood won’t lower (doesn’t even release the top catches). Flashes up on dash the ‘boot open’ car symbol. This is not the boot separator problem. The boot is closed and I am not getting the boot open warning at any other time - only when trying to lower the hood. The red light is not illuminated on the boot opener switch on the driver’s door. Any suggestions on what could be causing this issue please??

Hi star, so this isn’t the boot separator issue. If I don’t pull the separator down then I get that warning on the dash. When I pull the separator down I get the boot open warning on the dash.

Make sure the boot is fully closed and check the wiring going to boot lid.
