The dealer is being quite difficult and unresponsive. I fear they may not reply to my emails at all if I send them any.
I have made it quite clear to them that the vehicle suddenly cut off whilst driving and therefore not at my home address leaving it very prone to parking penalties.
They said they’d call me back today before they close and haven’t done so. Would it be wise of me to just get the car trailered to them (the car dealers’) ?

Yes and keep a record of everything inc costs you incur.
Thank you all so much for the advice and info. I have had some good news back from the dealers. They have asked me to take the car to mercedes for diagnostics. They’re happy to liaise with mercedes directly to resolve the issue and they’re also happy to cover the costs.

I really hope we can get it all sorted and have the car returned to me as its a brilliant motor when its running

UPDATE:

To whom it may be useful. New HV battery fitted cost £8,000 from mercedes. They (mercedes main dealer) initially said that their diagnostics found a PTC to be faulty and needed replacing (possibly didn’t need a PTC heater replacing at all) PTC heater cost £2,250 from mercedes. £580 for 3 hours initial diagnostics (£180 for first hour, £200 p/h thereafter)

So total money spent £10,830

Makes you wonder if any wise person should ever purchase a used vehicle.

Sorry to hear that sk1920, looks like its a very big risk factor purchasing any sort of a Hybrid/battery vehicle out of manufacturers warranty. I take it the dealers warranty paid the £10,380?

Yes fortunately. I mean I do sympathise with them having to fork out such a large amount but it was either they paid for it or I would have had to

Dont worry, dealers usually have themselves well covered with insurance for incidents like that which you more likely have paid for in the purchase.

Oh I see. That’s not too bad then, I did wonder if the business owner would be personally liable for that sort of disbursement

Hi,
first post here! I have to replace the hybrid battery of my 2016 C350e, due to a mulfunction problem! Does anyone knows if buying a second hand from ebay would need a reprogamming to car's ECU or will be a strightforward replacement?

thx for any advice

There’s a reason I respect my 20 plus year old Volvo’s and Supra!

The modern day car industry is a ‘keep them poor’ strategy for those who are oblivious to it.
