270CLK 2003 249970 miles
Hi, I was last on this forum around 2009 I think. I was asking if a 270CLK with 80k on the clock would be a good buy..... I bought it, one owner, full service history and put 4 new tyres on it. I still have it, now at 248k miles! Problems have been minimal, a battery more tyres, brake pads etc. Some suspension parts but nothing too costly. It's worth damn all now and definitely not worth selling for what I'd get. The entire drive train is still brilliant (engine is a little noisy but oil consumption is practically zero). I just rebuilt the CDIc pump after the old girl went from difficult to start to refusing. Not a big job and it's made a world of difference. The biggest problem I have now is the dreaded clicking from behind the dash and no demist, which I now have to bite the bullet and do. I see plenty of info on here and Youtube so, once more unto the breech! Nice to be back (can't remember my original name on here).

Welcome back, it's only been 12 years, you've missed a fair bit, but I am sure you will catch up, there have been a few comings and goings over the years, but not much has changed.

Welcome back I had a CLK270CDI not quite as brave as you only did 115K miles before I sold it, but a great car.
Similar problems to you front suspension bushes, & a rear shock absorber. The thermostat failed just before I part exchanged it.

The car has been so reliable, I decided it was better to keep it until it died, considering it's resale value. I paid £3950 for it in pristine condition, but 168k leaves it owing me nothing!

Mine had the Valeo radiator which always worried me, but it was a great car. The E class Coupe boot was too small for our requirement, so I bought a E350CDI saloon. Very please with it.

Thanks all of you for the welcome! My next challenge is to remove the dash to deal with the demister problem! I've downloaded some files from this forum and I'll report back on a separate post, probably after I've been to the osteopath!

Oh yes! I had a 320CLK before and frankly it had to go before I lost my license, sitting with an indicated 150mph on the M5 in the early morning for longish periods! I only bought it because I'd turned 60 and I felt I was old enough to be seen driving a Merc; how wrong I was. So I wanted a bit more economy so I bought the 270. Looking at the mileage/MPG it's averaged 43mpg over the entire 168K I've done, with around 51mpg on motorway runs. Bear in mind I live in rural Cornwall and much of the driving is on tiny Cornish lanes, the fuel consumption is nothing short of outstanding.
