Hi folks,

My 2009 CLK in Silver has a 9inch square of lacquer lifted off.

It has full MBSH, was bought from MB some two and a half years ago for £12000+ and although the service contract has 3 months to run they claim not their problem. But they do think it is original paintwork!

Well I wont leave it there!!!

SO...Has anyone had problems with similar Mercs of the same vintage please?

A pic of the offending area may give us a better idea of the problem.

Sorry, will try to post picture tomorrow.

The paint is OK in that place, there is no stone chip there, just the lacquer peeling.

Further research reveals bonnet has been re sprayed, not known when or by whom.

AS there are stone chips elsewhere on the bonnet advised to bite the bullet and PAY!

Quoted £300 + VAT for full bonnet by local sprayshop with good reputation...? reasonable?

£360 is extremely reasonable IMO, I've been wondering about mine as it has nasty road rash which isn't visible to most people (I did Chipex it), but stares me in the face when I'm washing it!!

My paint shop charges £300 per panel so I'd call that reasonable.

Had my front an rear bumpers done a few years ago and that was around £360 so I'd say yep good price
