Hi all,
I would be keen to hear of any successes trying to cure these leaks.

We had one in Wife's R171 following a very minor rear end shunt and whilst we managed to improve it I'm not wholly convinced it was ever completely cured.

Hi All

I've just found this thread but I can't find someone with the same symptoms as me. We have NOT modified the car in any way so it's the standard roof with the factory keyfob operation.

Our car is a 2009 with 35k miles on the clock. It was serviced by Merc in February and they had a few attempts at fixing leaks around the doors/windows. It had a few soak tests too and eventually they seemed to get it right.

This morning is the first good day this year so we went to open the roof. I think this is the first time since it was serviced earlier in the year.

We used the button in the centre console: The rear windows went down, the front windows dropped the usual 1/2 inch but then nothing happened. There were no beeps or warning lights. We pushed the button again and nothing happened. We pushed the button to close the roof and the rear windows went up but not the fronts, these would only go up with the window switches on the door. We tried this a couple of times and the same thing happened even after driving a few miles and trying again.

When I got to the office I opened the boot to get my laptop out then tried again and the roof worked. It stopped half way through but then went all the way down after pressing the switch again. It closed OK.

It then went down and up again at lunchtime no problem.

In the afternoon it went down no problem but then wouldn't close. The boot opened and stopped in the vertical position but then nothing happened. If I used the switch again I heard a noise like a pump/motor was working for a second or two but again nothing. I tried opening doors and using the keyfob but the same thing kept happening.

I drove it to the Merc garage and they couldn't get the roof to work either. They looked in the spare wheel well in the boot and there was some water in there. Not gallons but a splash on top of the spare wheel.

Do the symptoms I describe sound familiar to anyone? Is there a common cause/fault?

This was supposed to be my wife's dream car but it's turned into an absolute nightmare. The Merc garage has been terrible and now I hate to think of the bill we're facing 8 weeks out of warranty. We're moving house next week and need every penny we have. A big bill is the last thing we need right now. If we can find a way to get rid of it for something else we won't have much choice. Rant over. I hope someone on here can shed some light on the situation.

We had problems with leaks in the cabin at the start of the year and it took Merc a while to fix it. We park on a hill and I wonder if this is contributing to the leak. I spotted some drips of water in the boot last year but couldn't trace it.

Are there electrics for the roof in the bottom of the boot?

SLK R171 Rear quarter window adjustment

Hi Malcom

I have a leak coming from the area where the rear quarter window meets the front window. It looks like the rear quarter window is not parallel with the front window. Is there a procedure for adjusting the rear window so that it sits parallel and eliminates the gap.

Any help appraciated

Would you like the instructions to adjust this :D

My leak started like this in exactly the same place. Now, after a heavy down pour, there is a very tiny drop ready to drip, when I accelerate it spurts water in from that point until sort of empty! Stange thing is that last year for a full 6 months in awful weather there was nothing!! Stone dry!!. Now it has returned. Can you assist please?
