Led Headlights 2013 E Class

Hi all, i am new here so please be gentle!
I have just bought a E300 Hybrid SE 2013 Estate first of the new shape, i bought it from a independent dealer who advertised it as the AMG said it had the intelligent full led headlights, but when i got it home i found out it was not the AMG and it only led dip beam and halogen main beam, (along with the 13k extra miles he also didn't declare) with the running lights along the bottom of the headlight.
My Coupe had the active bi xenon and they were amazing, which is why i wanted these again.
My question is can i swap the headlight unit for the full led type with the z day running lights, or will in need any wiring or coding?
I know i am a fool for not checking but i trusted the dealer and i had driven 280 miles to collect it so i wanted to get home. I know they are expensive but if i can i am going to get the dealer to pay for them.

I fear this is an expensive conversion, however, it does sound like some misrepresentation on the part of the dealer and what was advertised is not what you bought...

If i can get the dealer to pay for a pair of the full led head light units do you know if they will plug in to what is already there, after all the only difference is the main beam being LED from horrible yellow halogen! oh and the day running lights in a different shape!

I’m not certain, someone will be able to be definitive soon, I’m sure. But, logic would suggest that complete units would just be plugged into the existing loom, I’d bet that it’s close to four figures though...

Do they produce a standard headlight that is full led with out the intelligent stuff, so in essence better day running lights (the z type) and the main beam as led, im not worried about the cornering or auto main beam assist if thats the case.

I had an E300 Hybrid with the LED dipped lights and halogen lights for main.

They are not too bad but the halogen do look sad compared to the LED’s.

As Craig said really not practical to do the conversion the cost would be eye watering and I doubt a dealer would be willing to cough up.

Sorry bit late to the party- so all in all about 3500 to change over the lights and a recode....the car was misrepresented to you , headlights are the least problem , the extra 13k miles is scandalous as is selling it as a different model. I’m even wondering if they swopped cars on you!

2nd this. That's a serious misrepresentation of the car!! Do you still have a copy of the original advert?

I would get 'all your duck in a row' and politely but firmly draft an email stating you have been mis-sold a car and wish to reject it under the Sales of Good's Act.

Before you send it, ask to speak to the dealership principle in person to explain your case face to face. Remain cool state the issue and ask them how they intend to resolve it.

If this is not to your satisfaction then inform them you will be contacting them in writing to reject the car. Then send the email and take it from there.

It's hassle I know hence saying to give them a chance and see how they wish to rectify it. They may surprise you. But do not 'take it lying down'

Maybe not as gentle as you had hoped OP, but please take heed. Act quickly and you just may get a ‘get out of jail free’ card thrown in on this one if you can reject and be refunded. Further I would advise if this does happen maybe ask on here before deciding which model to go for.

Hi Guys, Yep feel a bit of a pillock really, He is a independent Merc Specialist that works from home not a big garage but he doesn't seem to understand his brand, when i quizzed him he told me the SE Means special equipment as the car has heated Rear seats and 80l tank he also listed other bits as extras, that turned out to be standard features! he said that the AMG was a lesser model, i went along with it until i got home and started to look closer at the car and correct me if im wrong but the model starts with the SE and the AMG has the higher spec?
I am miffed as my car i traded in had the bi-xenon with the active high beam assist, this has Led dip beam and horrible halogen Main, it looks so yellow, i also miss the auto high beam, he told me this car had the same, but when i got home and it got dark i suddenly noticed. i want to have the main beam matching the dip beam, any ideas?
Buy the way i have got trading standards involved, just waiting to hear back from them.

The SE is the lower spec car so AMG trim and spec is higher.

The halogen does look yellow compared to the LED but from memory the main beam is not too bad.

Was the description of the car in writing or an advert? If not it’s your word against his.

I hope this gets sorted to your satisfaction but whatever happens providing you get no issues with it the E300 is a nice car.

He’s either a very very poor Mercedes specialist seller or an outright con artist, horrible when you get caught out on these kind of things! Could happen to anyone though
SE by the way stands for Super Einspritzen - or top Injection
AMG as Robin says is the higher specification
So for sure mis sold

I've noticed loads of Mercedes advertised with various 'extras' that are actually standard ...... that's partly Merc's fault for having such a huge list of options that makes virtually every car different from the next. eg I've been looking at MLs. Loads are described as having leather when in fact they'e fitted with crappy Artico/vinyl.

Loads for sale with “Command Navigation” when it’s obvious they have Audio 20 too.

OP, you won’t get a good colour match HAL: LED with decent lighting performance I’m afraid.
