Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has had success in swapping out the original halogen side lamps with led ones as I've tried a few sets now and not had much luck. Some last for alittle while and some don't work at all. The ones I have fitted at present have a mind of their own on/off flash.

leds are polarity sensitive

many are NASTY and not fit to use,

and on many german cars because it has a fairly complex bulb warning set up, its very likely you need a 3w resistor kit to glow in the dark so they pull enough current that the bulb failure doesn't throw its teddies

I'll look for the ones I used on my bike.... they were "error free" design (but that's mostly rubbish, hoping to be error free than it can fool the car reliably) and they sort of frequently didn't throw teddies

you also need to be aware of the design, most cheap LEDs look and work really badly because they sit too far out projecting a joke beam forwards.... and never reflecting light backwards to illuminate the lamp unit correctly like a std T10 / W5W bulb does

you also want 4500 K colour temp but the idiots mostly make 6000 k and they look too white and odd next to a xenon

the last thing anyone needs is lookalike complex 5G mast with additional satellites that most jokers peddle

the shorter the better with NOTHING to stop the light going backwards

these below might not throw errors as much, but they are too long. the bulb needs to be short like a std bulb, shining in all direction but mostly backwards...

Finest T10 / W5W LED I've come across , ceramic body + light diffuser , probably need a resistor .

If your sidelights are like the W/S204 you may be flogging a dead horse. I've tried many LED W5W bulbs in the sidelights of my car, some of which are a major PITA to change (NS in particular), came to the conclusion that the sidelight enclosures are so small the LED bulbs quickly overheat and fail, so after many skinned knuckles and fingers I said sod it and reverted to filaments. I've seen recommendations for these but have not tried them :

They are absolutely pathetic as any 5W halogen are.

Back in the day before LED room permitting we fitted 16W 955 halogen .

the link I had when I bought no longer functions.... sure I thought I bought 4, sold the bike, another other pair still running in a focus been there for 2 years no issues at all. But the receipt shows I bought 2, so that's confusing (they are pricey from this guy but I'd rather they worked)

if you check the item, again similar circuit on a board type (COB), which make for the short bulb that get to fire lots of light backwards illuminating the whole lamp unit you want

ebay 133021502340 its the right seller
