Hmm, buy it now at £16k tells me a reserve around £14-15k. Pickup Flintshire will narrow bids, also the "do not buy from this rip off w**nker" buyer review may be seen as a small red flag!

Yes I'm not tempted, plus like the R171 shape more...plus have just spent £5K on my Z3...but will still be interesting to see what it goes for.

Attaching a picture of a BMW on a Mercedes forum.

Was thinking of trading the R231 SL500 for an M4, are BMW expensive to run, £5k sounds steep if on repairs?

Its 25 years old and the specialist I took it loved it when I said "check everything", it was a very thorough check but all good now.

I wouldn't say a BMW is any cheaper or more expensive to look after than a Mercedes, depends on make and model and how well its been looked after.

Our BMW E93 3.0 (2008/67K miles) has cost double in five years compared to what my CLS Cdi (2008/165K miles) has cost in eight years for maintenance and repairs.

But likewise, my 2007 CLS cost me more in repairs and servicing in 3 years of owning than what my last 3 BMWs have cost me over the last 5 years. Swings and roundabouts. It is almost down to luck with a second hand car. I always go for what looks well cared for in my eyes but it’s still a gamble at the end of the day.

An old B-Class.

Was a cat c some years ago apparently.....Currently at £1, could be a bargain!
My son’s father in law purchased their Q7 that was an insurance write off.

Carrying out the repairs, He did whatever he could do himself (using Ebay parts), got mates and Audi to do the rest. That was ~3 years ago. To this day, he will not divulge to the family what it cost him to get it back on the road. We are all convinced that it was a lot more than buying an uncrashed used model.

Personally, I’d never buy an insurance write off. IMO a write-off car, no matter how well repaired, is never going to be 100%.

I think it will be difficult at that price.

It will always be a "Cat C" car.

Alright for those who just want a cheap entry to that car and just run it down/race it etc.

Anyone fastidious will wait like an eagle for the right one to come along.

When I bought mine in Jan, there were none below 23k. All low mileage though (and boring colours!)
