???Much to learn....
Was for Gazwould, who is an authority on all things oilyM B Bevo list approved yes.
There is a feel good feeling when we change the engine oil and filter, knowing the engine is conditioned and the rev the exhaust power is even more satisifying, does it for me.That is useful !
Don't forget brake pads and discs, tyres, remaps and sprint boostersWas for Gazwould, who is an authority on all things oily
My point was AMgeed, that regardless of the name on the oil container, if it was approved by MB, then it was good to use. There's lots of "oily" stories out there about why brand X is better for your MB engine than brand Y. The catch is of course as always, it comes at a higher price. And oil companies take full advantage of car owners trying always to do the best for their vehicles.Don't forget brake pads and discs, tyres, remaps and sprint boosters
MB spec oil is perfectly fine. It's probably Petronas brand with an MB label on it. It's good enough for F1 cars so its good enough for our cars.
The dealers wouldn't be filling our sumps with the stuff if it wasn't up to standard.
I agree. Marketing a brand name is very profitable. My point was AMgeed, that regardless of the name on the oil container, if it was approved by MB, then it was good to use. Agree it’s all about being confident that quality control is what it should be. Take oil filters made by OEM equipment suppliers there is no guarantee that the item is the same quality as those boxed for MB and BMW and I don’t take the chance certainly not for the small extra costI agree. If an oil meets or exceeds MB spec it should do the job whatever is on the label.
I admit to being a bit of a brand snob and wouldn't put some of the cheaper brands in my E63 even if it did meet the spec. (TripleX from ECP for example)
Well, the oil is one thing...but oil filters are something else....I'd be going for the genuine article in this case,as you mention, the price difference is negligible when you think about the myriad problem that.you faulty filtration can cause.Agree it’s all about being confident that quality control is what it should be. The transmission fluid is worth a mention too, when the car was in the shop for transmission service I requested MB recommended specifications only,by the way is there a transmission filter in the W203 CDI C220Well, the oil is one thing...but oil filters are something else....I'd be going for the genuine article in this case,as you mention, the price difference is negligible when you think about the myriad problem that.you faulty filtration can cause.
Yes, the oil pan is dropped to give access to the filter. MB used to say the transmission was sealed for life, but this was later revised to require a change at 30k plus depending on the exact modelThe transmission fluid is worth a mention too, when the car was in the shop for transmission service I requested MB recommended specifications only,by the way is there a transmission filter in the W203 CDI C220
