Morning all, been a while since I posted, just been lurking in the background.
Anyway, I just wondered if Mercedes put any warranty on their parts?
I had my car serviced by MBS last week, and they picked up the OSF strut cross needs replacing as the ball joint has failed. They are correct, the movement is quite bad… But, I replaced the same part only 2 years ago for the same reason. A ball joint shouldn’t fail in 2 years unless it’s had some serious punishment. I bought genuine too as I thought a non genuine part would eventually give me the problem I have now…
Just wondered if this part would have any sort of warranty. I did fit it myself tho, which I’m sure they could use to say any warranty would be void

Thanks,
Steve

I think I've read something about a 2 year warranty on here for parts.
Worth speaking to the place you purchased from l guess and I'd probably argue how it can be possible to fit a ball joint so incorrectly that it wears so soon.

It’s two years but has it failed or worn out? Most warranties don’t cover wear and tear and you can’t fit it incorrectly to cause abnormal wear.

Thanks for replies guys. Part was purchased in July 2019, so over 2 years ago. Think I’d have a battle on my hands to try and get anything…

The reality is some MB parts are not very good and need regularly replacing, I know I have a triggers brush car.

I very very much doubt it's down to fitting.

I have never understood the belief that because it has MB on it that it must be good.

My new MB springs have broke within a few years, MB joints have failed repeatedly even new MB panels have rusted quickly.

Don’t forget the stealership might charge you to inspect it and then throw it out.
This is right. I had a wing mirror indicator that had water in it (£30 part). Dealer wanted approx £150 upfront to inspect to make sure damage was not caused by a stone or my installation. Oh and drive ~1hr:30min round trip for the pleasure and of course it had to be with them for a whole day.

I live on planet earth, so declined....

I have to agree with Frontstep, MB is not really quality these days by and large and that’s for parts too. Another point to take into account is that even if you are careful the horrid surfaces we have really smash the crap out of suspension components, coupled with ever heavier cars this just accelerates the issue. All suspension joints, links and mounts in my book have moved into the routine serviceable item category.

Does make you wonder if it’s worth shelling out the extra cash for a genuine part, when in reality they are no better than an aftermarket pattern part. Lemforder part on ECP is only £113, as opposed to £175 from Mercedes…

I just buy Lemforder from Eurocarparts where ever possible, they were OEM on my old Volvos and last well.

I had the Lemdorder fitted onto the CLS219 and the garage said they fitted a treat without issues.
