My remote key won't work and my car is now immobilised. Tried changing the batteries but this hasn't resolved the issue. Shall I try the spare key or do you think something more sinister is afoot. Thanks in advance

Thanks,

It's a long way home to get the key first - still I hope it resolves the problem and limits the "expense"

key is about £200 region. i am assuming you have tried to start the car, and the steering lock etc buzzes ok? the locking part, if memory serves me, is nothing to dowith the starting. the batteries in the key are only for the locking part. i believe theres a part that can break off for the immobilizer that can be re soldered back on. Malcolm (television) is more clued up on the system than i am, by a long way.

Hi i had the same problem with my key.there is a metal band each side of the battery's. On the outside band of the battery's, try folding a small piece of foil around one of the metal strips this made mine work it was not making a contact when you pushed the button. And is still working ok after 3 months.bill

As above,,it could well be the batteries as these control the locking but not the starting,,if you spare key works then I can fix the faulty one
