I went to help a friends father last night who was stranded. The car in question is a 1992 190 2.0 petrol. The car is as new and I mean as new condition.
The car was stranded in Ely cambs, the car cranks on the key with no problem but no start, if let to stand for 10 mins and then I try to start it there is a brief fire and then continues to crank.
I can hear the fuel pump prime, there is a spark at the plugs and this was as far as I got before it was too dark to see anything.
One thing I tried with the air filter housing removed was to repeatedly tap the disk on the air flow sensor whilst the car was cranking, this would allow the car to run but run badly and then stall.
The car was recovered to his house and I need to assess what to do next and go there to do the work.
The fuel system is the Bosch KE jetronic and my first thoughts are faults with either the air sensor or fuel meter above it.
I still need to check the ICV and the rubber below the air sensor and other breathers.
I anyone has any thoughts it would be appreciated.
