Nope, we need to know the outcome. It may help others with a similar issue. I don't want to say more than this...

Yes, nomally I would agree but reading comments after couple 1st page I lost my faith this would give any useful info more.

took car back to garage he said he not able to indentify exactly where the rattling sound is coming from and did not hear it today

may have to consider taking car else where unless he comes up with some answers early new yr
Where are you based? There are a network of Independent Mercedes specialists that could no doubt cure your issues for you

If it is chain rattle, it may last months yet, or it may jump a cog at any time and wreck your engine - which means that your car will be toast, because a replacement engine will cost more than the car's worth. Delay is the killer here.

If you're now thinking of going elsewhere sometime in the new year, why not bite the bullet and take your car to an independent Mercedes shop NOW, for a second opinion. It might just be the best medicine your car will get.

My w205 220 with 58k on clock is abit like that too. Chains are a bit noisey but snap less thats the trade off

well i been using the same guy for 15 years therefore i would tend to trust him to a point if he wanted to have me over he would of said change chain if it was ok still for say 800 pound
do u have his contact details as i need this done , i have the exact same car
