My wife's ML270 whines on heavy turning especially from cold. Can anyone tell me if this is the steering pump or oil? Where would I find the reservoir for the oil?

I daren't take the tractor to my local Merc garage - the last time I did that they actually forgot it was there for a service and had not touched it. The time before they 'serviced it' but the oil levels were very low when I collected it. The time before that the 'service' failed to result in change of pads even though the brake warning lamp was on and they were asked to change them.

Sounds like your stealers are just that!
Does the pump always whine, or just on full lock?

Hi under the right engine cover looking from the front it look like any others that you might have see, if the cover has been refit then you will need a Torqes bit to remove the screws then the cover.

I had a similar problem once and all it was the steering fluid was a fraction low.
Added the oil and it was fine.

Only use Orignal merc fluid.

You must take the engine cover on the right off to check the level.

The cap of the reservior will need to be turned anti clockwise to open.
