Hi All

I have an ML270 (2004) and the central locking is playing up - My scanner shows the car thinks all the doors are closed when they are open (including the tail gate) , and open when they are shut - Which means the doors will not lock when they are closed, but will when they are open (off the key fob and also the rocker switch) - but the fuel cap lock is deployed when doors are unlocked, and deactivated when doors are locked - A module must be confused?
Any suggestions on how to reset everything?

Disconnect the battery and leave it 10 mins

Thanks Blobcat! Trying that now :).. update soon.
Just remember to reset the windows (hold the switch fully open for ~10secs after the window is open, then hold it closed for 10secs after the window is fully closed.)
Also reset the steering angle sensor by turning the wheel fully left and fully right whilst driving very slowly forwards.

It could be a faulty alarm siren module, over time the batteries inside corrode and destroy the pcb which can cause a variety of problems.

Siren/battery is showing a fault .. the ML is not my area of knowledge (on the W220, I’ve just ignored alarm issues in the past). Where is the siren/battery located?. Also, some fault images below.

Its tucked away underneath the wiper motor, it is a bit fidly to get at. Hardest part may be removing the wiper arms, I had to use a puller.

Reading around various MB forums, there seems to be a consensus towards the AAM (All Activity Module) having a fault when problems such as the one I am experiencing occur. I could find a 2nd hand module for under £200 with same part number (and as the vehicle is 2004, there should not be issues with immobiliser/drvie authorisation) - but I am thinking this could be a lot of expenditure just to have the doors lock on the remote - Has anyone swapped out like for like AAM and not needed any Star reprogramming?.
