My neighbours love my Ducati...

Had to warm it up by blipping the throttle before setting off. They used to wave to me to show their appreciation...
My closest neighbour complimented my choice of reversing onto the drive then pointed out that my 4 exhausts were pointing nicely towards their bedroom :( who knew ?

I could set the car alarms off...

my VXR is quite loud but its never upset the neighbours ( that I know of ) I wonder if its the tone of the exhaust rather than the loudness ?

lovely car, i'd love to hear how it sounds (startup, from the rear) with some revving as well... :)

Here you are. Excuse my ugly mug.
First YouTube upload so be kind:D
If you get no sound with Chrome, as I do, change browser. I know it plays OK in MS Edge.

AMG do produce the best sounding engines out there in my opinion. Interestingly the BMW 6 cylinder twin outlet back box has a valve shut-off on the nearside pipe to reduce exhaust noise opens up >3k revs only, very nice note when it does open though

Now I'm probably not going to be popular here but later Mercedes V8s to me sound very harsh and gutteral. Personally I prefer the softer more musical tones of a good American V8 (like the Monaro which though Australian uses a Chevy engine).
That may be part of why I prefer the sound of my 129 to the 230 - it's much more along the American lines.

Guttural yes, harsh no ( in my ears), I called mine Panzer as it reminded me in some ways of that low powerful guttural roar....takes me back too Roger :)

The pre-programmed 'blip' wasn't that over the top, I thought. We had a Caymen GTS next door to us for a while that sounded like the engine management revved it to 2500rpm on start-up, just to make a noise...

is that because they want the oil pressure up as quickly as possible , not the first car ive heard do that , my VXR included , it idles at 1450 rpm when cold

It was a 'blip', not steady revs. Sounded like a bit of 'theatre' to me...

There's no blip on start up. If you heard a W212 doing that on start up, blame the driver for toe tapping and seeking attention:D.
The only blip is pre programmed on changing down. Blame MB for that;)
