Raj, don't know if I'm allowed to say.
I will gladly answer that if I am. Advise on this please.

Looks stunning. Out of interest does your obvious meticulous attention to detail go further than the obvious but still hugely impressive cosmetic side?

IE have you detailed the engine bay and visible (i know there is not a great deal you can see) engine and ancillary components?

We first sanded it down with 3000 wet N dry, than machine G4, than Meguires polish and finally Meguires Carnauba Wax based deep shine detailing polish.

Would be an idea to put a coat of Sonax over that to protect it even more.

It looks stunning

In reply to your questions, the attention to this project was far beyond just the bodywork.
lights, interior, engine bay, mechanicals, even down to the under trays and inner wheel arches.
I have posted a few photos on this thread but here is another of the engine bay.

Now that I know I can mention this, the bodywork package was put together with Xclusiv Customz in Sheffield and the bodywork was done by the bodyshop that they use who used to be part of their business but now are independent. If anybody wants their contact details let me know. If you mention me, they will look after you I'm sure.

So what is the difference between Soxax and Meguires?

Got a couple of bottles of Sonax. its very good indeed so I've just bought some more ( Use code end25 for 25%off now!) which works out at £5.24 a bottle

should last me some considerable time even with 2 blue cars to keep clean!:D

The R230 is the best looking of the bunch in my opinion which makes a really good base for a project. I won't ask the cost which was obviously significant but when compared to the cost of a new/nearly new SL I'd be very tempted to do what you have done and create something absolutely unique. It's very difficult to enhance something as well designed as a 230 but you have managed it congratulations on such a good job

Thank you for your kind comments.
I must say that I'm very happy with how this car has turned out as things don't always go to plan even when you spend a lot of money on them.
I got some Sonax and gave it a go at the weekend and must admit it has brought the depth of the paint out even more. It looks like a sheet of glass.
Was well worth the wait to allow the paint to cure properly before polishing the car.
All I need now is some nice dry weather..

Yes I do agree, the paint hardening does take weeks, I have noticed that when spraying in the garage and leave to dry in the house that if you can still smell it, it is not fully cured, plus yes it is a waste of time trying till it is fully cured.

Yes Malcolm. Its a painful time as you just want to get it looking good but well worth the wait.
doing things this way will also last and you do note get any shrinkage after polishing and a better depth.

Looking forward to Sunday as weather permitting I will be taking the car to the first car show in Doncaster. If anybody is going, come and introduce yourself and say hello.

The show was great and I was overwhelmed by the attention the car got.
It also drove like a dream. Well pleased.
