My van started leaving oil on the drive when parked and it was impossible to trace any kind of leak. It seems to blow all over the side of the block near the exhaust manifold and alternator. I've now been advised it's the turbo on its way out or more precisely the turbo bearings/seals?? Apparently oil is being blown around back through the inter cooler and along the intake hose. Anyway my question is can anybody recommend a service exchange supplier anywhere? I've spotted a secondhand turbo on ebay but I'm a bit cautious as that could be knackered as well. My van is the 412D Sprinter and apparently it's a rareish model anyway so parts can be hard to find??

elo moto,
it may be a rarish model, only seen a couple of 412's but it is still the 120 bhp engine but on the 4 ton chassis, so the engine isn't rare, probably more of them than any other. as you say would be cautious about s/hand turbo.

Take care and avoid using the vehicle on long high speed runs, if the seals fail completly the hot engine oil will be blown into the engine in sufficient quantity to fuel the engine.... without a govenor... and that means a real mess with lots of engine bits to sweep up.
Best to get it fixed pronto at whatever cost for a turbo overhaul than need a complete engine.

A re-con unit is quite reasonable in price. Try Turbotecnics, Turbonetics etc
