If you mean the fat black one then yes its an engine breather hose.

You should replace it, as the engine will suck in air that is not filtered.

The fuel leak off pipes are leaking diesel into the injector bores, you should replace those too, otherwise you will get starting problems should they get much worse.

Also, all the motorcyclists will thank you for not spilling diesel onto the road :)

On a side note, I had a C250 TD W202 that ran away on itself under very similair conditions as your engine is in now.

The fuel filled up the plug holes, and the breather pipe had a massive hole in it. I went over a crest in the road and all the diesel ran towards the front of the engine, down the breather pipe, into the engine. It then ran away and that was the end of that!

Sorry again for bringing up this old thread again :D
A bit help is needed. I was driving home 130-160kmh and something started smelling. When i stopped on the paytool there was very very very much white smoke coming from the exhaust and somewhere from the engine. So i stopped and bought motor oil. I check to see if the oil was white for a gasket leak but it wasnt. I continued the road for an hour and then the water light went on. I poured water and went home. Now the water goes through the exhaust and smoke is coming all the time when the car heats up a bit. The strange thing is that the car doesnt heat up, doesnt misfire, the oil isnt white, there are no bubbles, there is no visible leaks nothing... so is the head gasket blown for sure or not? Thanks in advance :D

It would suggest head gasket or cracked head if water is leaking into the exhaust...

I know but it doesnt have any symptoms of cracked head or gasket. Nothing. Been driving the car till now and still nothing. Everything goes as usual, just the water is going through the exhaust... i went to a service he says i dont know drive it until it starts showing symptoms of cracked gasket or head :D
